Welcome to the web site of CARAD

CARAD is an independent not-for-profit organisation working with people who have fled war, torture and oppression in search of safety and security in Australia.

Since January 2000 CARAD has has assisted more than 4000 refugees and asylum seekers in Perth, Western Australia. We have provided accomodation, financial aid, English tutoring, friendship, furniture, Homework support and a host of other services to people who do not yet have permanent protection visas.

Without CARAD’s support these people would otherwise have no means of supporting themselves. We congratulate the Rudd government on their decision to end the Temporary Protection Visa. There is still work to be done - many asylum seekers living in the community rely on CARAD for their weekly living allowance,  and CARAD volunteers offer ongoing settlement support and friendship.

For more information view our Annual Report 2009.

CARAD is pleased to announce that we have received 3-year funding from the Office of Multicultural Interests to manage “The Welcome Project”, which will enable CARAD to continue to provide English and homework lessons to refugees living in the community.
